Rooted in heritage. Driven by community. United in culture.
Our story
Established in 2013, the United Khmer Cultural Preservation (UKCP) was born from a deep-rooted commitment to the Khmer community in California’s Central Valley. What began as a foundational effort to protect our customs and traditions has evolved into a vibrant movement dedicated to preserving memory and promoting a living heritage.
At UKCP, we believe that culture is more than a connection to the past because it serves as a blueprint for the future. Through community-based programs in Khmer language literacy, traditional arts, and leadership development, we create spaces where Khmer Americans and our allies can grow together. By bridging the gap between generations, we ensure that cultural knowledge is not just remembered but passed on as a source of strength and identity.
Our work continues to expand to meet the needs of our community today. We are especially dedicated to the well-being of our community through enrichment programs specifically designed for late-middle-age and elder members, honoring them as the vital heart of our heritage and ensuring they remain active, connected, and supported.
Today, UKCP stands as a pillar of empowerment. We envision a society where our community sees their heritage reflected in the world around them, contributing to a Khmer diaspora that is connected, thriving, and culturally vibrant. Whether through education, advocacy, or the arts, we remain dedicated to staying rooted in our history while growing toward a shared and empowered future.
